After
graduated from a Hong Kong English college, Jacky Cheung didn’t plan to develop
on music direction. By the contrary, he first worked in a trade company and
then Cathay Pacific Airways Limited. Until the year of 1984, he won the
champion from more than 20 thousand competitors in an amateur singing contest
with the song Fatherland.
After
the success of his song Fatherland, he signed with PolyGram Record Company and
became a singer of this record company. Then he released his first record album
named Smile and reached a sale number of 200+ thousand, which also make Jacky
Cheung the outstanding freshman in Hong Kong musical field. During his musical
career, he has been chosen many times by some charity business and governments to
sing the theme songs.
In 1986,
he released his second album named Amour and also reached a big success. Even more,
the song Half Moon in this album became a classic song within Hong Kong
residents. Another classic popular song Sun and Stars was also released at the
same period. Only two years after Jacky Cheung entered the area of music, he
held his first concert at famous Hong Kong Coliseum.
